1. What did you do this year that you've never done before?
Went to a lesbian dance and spent Halloween in a gay bar in Calgary. Also, went to a gay club in Vancouver during the summer. Two things I've never done.
2. Did you keep your new year's resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I kept my exercise program going pretty well; my watching what I eat has slacked off a little. Back on it in a couple days though. LOL
3. Did anyone close to you give birth this year?
My friend did. Baby Miley, very cute.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
A couple older family members but I didn't know them very well. A friend from high school committed suicide, though. That was horrible.
5. What countries did you visit this year?
None.
6. What would you like to have in the next year that you lacked this year?
Sex with something that doesn't require batteries. LOL
7. What date from this year will remain etched upon your memory?
Pride Day in Vancouver. Very awesome.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Keeping my sanity.
9. What was your biggest failure of the year?
Letting my temper get the best of me on occasion.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just the usual headache, neck problem crap. Nothing major, thank goodness.
11. What was the best thing you bought this year?
My Ecco knee-high brown boots. I LOVE them.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration (a public or private personality)?
Everyone who took time to make someone else's life a little better, even for a moment.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Bush's, and various celebrities but I won't go into that.
14. Where did most of your money go this year?
Bills, DVD's, and fair amount to Starbuck's. LOL
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about this year?
Reading the new fics on LJ, seeing what all my new friends are doing and working on my RPG with
del_rion.
16. What song will always remind you of this year?
Never Too Late by Three Days Grace. It's overplayed here, but I love it and when I listen to it at home, I always sing to it and it can still make me emotional.
This world will never be
What I expected
And if I don't belong
Who would have guessed it
I will not leave alone
Everything that I own
To make you feel like it's not too late
It's never too late
Even if I say
It'll be alright
Still I hear you say
You want to end your life
Now and again we try
To just stay alive
Maybe we'll turn it all around
'Cause it's not too late
It's never too late
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
-happier or sadder? Happier. I'm more at peace and I handle life better even when it throws me a curve.
- richer or poorer? Financially, a little better, but I have 2 jobs so that's probably why.
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Helped people more, spent more time with my friends.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
I wished I'd yelled less, listened more. I wish I'd taken a breath instead of losing my temper.
20. How did you spend the holidays?
At home.
21. Did you fall in love this year?
No, but I'm hopeful for next year.
22. How many one-night stands did you have this year?
None.
23. What was your favorite TV program for the year?
CSI: Miami and Mad Men
24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
Hate's baggage, I try to avoid it at all costs. It's a soul killer.
25. What was the best book you read this year?
The Warlord Trilogy by Bernard Cornwell. (The Winter King, Enemy of God, and Excalibur) Very awesome and I keep re-reading it now because I love it so much. Honourable mention to
elyxer's Leather Bound, especially Chapter 15. It's fantastic and now she's doing the sequel. Yay.
26. What was your favorite film of the year?
Probably Transformers, I'm just an 80's geek at heart.
27. How would you describe your personal fashion concept this year?
I tried to be a little less 80's reject and more this century. LOL A little more professional and less 'Saturday morning sweatshirt'. People did notice at work, which was nice.
28. Whom did you miss this year?
I missed my friends. There just never seems to be enough time for us all to get together anymore.
29. Who was the best new person you met this year?
My students at school are pretty good, a couple of them. And on LJ the list is way too long, and I don't want to leave anyone out so I'll just say all my new friends. You guys rock!
30. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned for this year.
Just when you're ready to give up on mankind, they'll turn around and do something selfless to surprise you and give you hope again. We are frighteningly callous and self-involved one minute; empathetic and self-sacrificing the next. Fascinating.
